Server TPS suddenly drops from 20 when hitting entities (including players)

Hey!, I’m having an annoying issue on my minecraft server where the tps will drop below 20 when an entity is hit or even just randomly (this includes animals, monsters and players). When this happened we can get down to 5tps which causes great lag for all players on the server. I’m struggling to understand why this is happening. It’s even more confusing as I just moved over to another host with a higher CPU and RAM, yet it seems the old hosting did a much better job in terms of performance. Is there anything we can do to improve or prevent this problem? Thanks :smiley:

It’s recommended to use proper JVM flags you can find here: https://startmc.sh/ to launch your server.
However, 1 core will not get you anywhere in the long run. You want at least 4 cores to not die due to how modern MC (and Paper) spreads the load.
